Barbara & Don from Wisconsin dropped by a couple of days after their dream wedding at the Longboat Key Hilton. They had so much to say about their experience… we decided to let them tell you about it themselves!

Crystals and Candlelight

You just cannot go wrong with candlelight for a wedding….it is so romantic to see a candle lit aisle, as was done for this wonderful couple at Saint Barbara’s Greek Orthodox Church, Sarasota. Every other pew end was adorned with white roses tucked into ivy cascading down the single candelabrum.

Maria Brady of Choreographed Events is always great to work with. She brought in special linen for the cake and head table that were just exquisite. Planning this up scaled wedding was a huge undertaking but done with easy by Maria. You will see by looking at our photo gallery that Tibor of Imley Photography, did an outstanding job capturing the event.

I do not think I have seen the Ritz Carlton Ballroom as grand with the soft lighting effect and fabric draping done by Affairs in the Air, coupled with the striking arrangements that the Fudgie designers did on site. Two styles of arrangements were used. Both in tall vases but one with long white orchids with chandeliered hanging votives and the other of tall curly willow branches with white dendrobium orchids attached and crystals garlands raining from the branches and many hanging votive candles. The branches stood 5 to 6’ tall of the tables which filled the room with it tall ceiling.

The long head table with its fabulous linen was flanked with two 36” all crystal 5 branch candelabrum topped with white orchids and then lined with dozens of candles between. The place card table in the pre function area at the Ritz had a vase of tall curly willow branches with crystals and tiny orchids on monofilament. The monofilament rained from its branches. This impressive piece was in the center of all the place cards that spiraled out from it base.

The sparkle of the crystals in the candlelight made for an absolutely awesome look.

Sarasota: Michael’s On East Ballroom – Wedding for a Friend

Michael’s on East’s elegant ballroom was the setting for both the wedding and the reception for this recent Sarasota wedding. Half the ballroom was set by Flowers by Fudgie for the intimate ceremony. Fudgies created an altar surrounded by bronze candelabra set against a backdrop of lush green plants. Dramatic floral arrangements composed of Wow (coral), Circus (yellow/red edge) and Leonides (terra cotta) roses with hanging green amaranthus completed this elegant space. This was a special wedding for all of us at Fudgie’s. The bride, Jen Blanco, is a close friend and the officiant principal of Notary to Go, a long-time Sarasota wedding service provider. Jen was now on the “other side of the table” as she and Steve Moore were tied in marriage! Bobbi Hicks (Weddings by Bobbi), Evelyn England (Sage art and video , Jen Blanco-Moore (Notary to Go) and Becki Creighton (Flowers by Fudgie) have worked together as a team for years as Your Wedding Source, the one-stop-shop for Sarasota brides who expect the best for their weddings. It was loads of fun planning and executing a wedding for one of our ”sisters”! But this time the team included Susan Quarmby, of Weddings by Susan, as the officiant. Together, we made our dear friend’s wedding day as special as any we have ever done.

Phil Mancini, owner of Michael’s on East joined the team as Maitre d’ along with Brett Osborn of Made in the Shade, who provided the rental of the green plants. Three other great vendors for the evening were Tammy Gamso of Finishing Touches, who did the bride’s makeup, Carl from Ole Heidelberg Bakery who provided a scrumptious cake and Wayne Delair of Delair Entertainment, who provided fabulous music for the evening.

The reception was in the same ballroom where Fudgie’s designers created elevated arrangements of Leonides, Circus and Wow roses, trailing ivy with several votive candles at the base of each one for a rich, romantic setting. This fun, loving couple continued partying on with all their family and friends all weekend. Pre-wedding fun started Friday night at Marina Jacks and ended Sunday at the Hyatt Sarasota with a grand brunch. See the photos below to get in on this great wedding weekend!

Sarasota Ca D’Zan and Ringling Museum Courtyard- Wedding

This couple chose chartreuse and coral as thecolor scheme for their destination wedding at the Ringling Museum.

They were joined together in marriage on the Terrace of the Ca Da’ Zan. The couple stood in front of the amazing colorful stained glass windows of the museum where an iron arch, covered in roses, orchids and dripping with green amaranthus framed the couple. This placement of chairs kept the sunlight at the guests’ backs and the glare from the water out of their eyes. Two black tripods were used to flank the back of the aisle that was lined with rose petals. Green dendrobium orchids were attached to every other chair end down the aisle.

Nicole Kaney, of NK Productions, was the wedding coordinator who effortlessly executed the event, with Mattison’s catering, led by Anna Pohl. Tibor Imely was the photographer who captured all their wedding memories.

The nearly 100 guests were then transferred by trolley to the Ringling Museum Courtyard for the reception. The dinner tables had vibrant coral Marlsye roses cascading down the stem of the 36” tall bronze candelabrum with 5 votive candles on top of each one. This beautiful display worked well with the coral linens that had been chosen. The whimsical cake from Beautiful Cakes by Ron, was beautifully framed by the arch that was transferred over from the ceremony site.

Marie Selby Gardens-Wedding

Marie Selby Gardens of Sarasota has several beautiful garden settings for a wedding reception and this couple from New York chose to have theirs under the tremendous Banyan Trees. They were married at the 1st Presbyterian Church of Sarasota prior to arriving at Selby.

We worked together with Maria Brady their planner, Michael’s On East and Barbara Banks that provided us with photos we have displayed.

When the guest arrived their tables were set with vibrant orange and fuchsia linens. Two styles of arrangements were designed for the tables. One style was an elevated arrangement in glass pilsner vases with curly willow branches and pink Makara orchid sprays to look like orchid trees and on the other tables had glass bowls of hot pink hydrangea, Makara orchids and bright orange roses. This bold pop of color was a very eye catching within the lush garden setting. For the place card table we use flats of wheat grass; where the cards where nested in alphabetical order. The couple wanted a fun and casual look and the bold colors helped to set that tone.

Sarasota Ringling Museum Wedding-Courtyard

The Ringling Museum in Sarasota has a beautiful courtyard where we participated in a grand wedding of over 300 guests. This was certainly a platinum affair from beginning to end for this local Bradenton couple.

We were first contacted by their wedding planner, Bobbi Hicks and we worked together with other vendors such as Michael’s On East and Alfred Gordon who provided us with some of the photographs of an amazing evening under the stars.

They exchanged their vows at the 1st Presbyterian Church in Sarasota. The evening continued at the Ringling Courtyard with dramatic elevated arrangements of pink blush Anna roses and lots of crystals and candlelight for a truly elegant affair.

Sarasota Ritz Carlton Wedding-Healing Garden

Sarasota Ritz Carlton has several wedding sites, one of which is the Healing Garden. After arriving by yacht this bride had a 100′ carpeted walk through a flower lined aisle. Rich tones of red, bronze, orange and gold were used.

Again, we worked with wonderful wedding professionals such as Nicole Kaney from NK Productions and Barbara Banks Photography whose pictures you will see displayed.

The wedding was for 140 guests in the Healing Garden with cocktails on the lawn and the reception moved into the Ballroom with back lit walls and up lighting under each of the floral arrangements. Each arrangement included a submerged orchid in the stem of the 26″ vase and topped with tropical flowers, roses and cascading amaranths and around the base there were 3 smaller cylinders with gold Vanda orchids floating under the ivory lit candles. The color scheme looked beautiful in the room.
