Destination Wedding at Siesta Key Beach

Bridal bouquet with pink and yellow roses with diamonettesSiesta Key Beach continues to be a big draw for our destination brides! This time a wonderful couple from the UK traveled all the way to Sarasota to have their special day at the beautiful Siesta Dunes Condo right on the beach. This was a small wedding of 14 people, but it was big in beauty and style!

Planning a destination wedding takes a lot of skill and organization and Anna Pohl was the planner of this incredible event from Linens by the Sea.

She was instrumental in pulling everything together for the big day. She arranged everything for this couple, from the tent & linens to the incredible photography by Tibor Imley, delicious food by Fete catering and even the officiant! Anna is a dream to work with!

Pink and Yellow Bridal BouquetAlthough the weather looked to be a bit threatening on the big day, they were able to have the beach wedding they always dreamed of…what a relief!

The bride’s bouquet was a simple hand-tied cluster of pink Sophie roses and yellow Skyline roses with a little bit of sparkle pinned in several of the blooms.  You can never go wrong with sparkle!Pomadour ball in pink and yellow

The little flower girl carried a pompadour ball of the mini yellow and pink roses—she too had a touch of sparkle! We also tucked a few roses in the little girl’s hair…she was just adorable in her little soft pink chiffon dress!

The feasting-style dinner table fit the 14 guest perfectly! We used a runner of mirror down the length of the table so the candles and tiny lights in the ceiling of the tent would  give a double reflection as the evening wore on—it created a magical effect!

Feasting table with mirrored runner and pink/yellow flowersWe carried the beach theme onto the tables with lots of shells in the base of our floating candles and smaller votive holders.

In between the candles, we used a couple of different style arrangements: some with just a single open rose and others with green hydrangea and a mix of the pink and yellow roses.  We even used a few larger star fish leaned up against the candles as well!

This was a very affordable table setting and gave them a fabulous look…you really don’t have to break the bank to have a gorgeous wedding!

Planning a Destination Wedding

Many people are surprised to find out the number of couples that travel to the area from overseas for weddings. We’re not! Our pretty beaches simply cannot be beat!

We endeavor to make the process of planning floral design for a destination wedding as simple and seamless as possible.

First, we send off a consultation form to the couple. After it’s completed, we then send a preliminary proposal with several options including bridal bouquets, arches, canopies, and even reception options. We also include pricing and photos along with all of the options.

It’s kind of like an oversized menu geared toward their needs, color scheme, and budget. We can work just through email to make the revisions and decisions or sometimes we will set up a phone consultation to get everything decided.  It works the same for any of our destination brides—from Tampa to London! We love destination weddings!

Destination Wedding at Powel Crosley Estate

Bride and groom at SunsetWe had another beautiful wedding at Powel Crosley Estate. In fact, this was a destination wedding. But the couple didn’t travel too far…they came from Brandon, FL! It is just too hard to resist our beautiful Sarasota beaches and amazing venues!

The ceremony was done on the lush lawn facing the water…simply spectacular!  We used our pretty open top canopy with sheers and floral clusters of hydrangea and open cream garden roses. This canopy frames the couple in such a beautiful fashion—it makes it picture perfect!Open Top Canopy

Bridesmaids bouquetsThis wedding was done in elegant tones of whites, creams, and peaches. The bride carried a bouquet comprised of white hydrangea topped with white ranunculus…simple and gorgeous.

The bridesmaids carried bouquets with white hydrangea with soft peach ocsiana and cream garden roses…so pretty! The sheer wash of peach color in the girls’ bouquets was lovely against their champagne gowns.

Tables centerpieces were created in popular mercury glass vases filled with hydrangea and open Sahara roses. We also included several small mercury glass votives to pull in soft candle light. Mercury glass always adds a beautiful touch to any table!

The superior food was provided by Mattison’s Catering! They always do an outstanding job and are so easy and helpful to work with—you can never go wrong with Mattison’s! Dancing took place on the loggia and the cake was on a table in front of the fountain and was topped with fresh flowers to match the others.Garden look centerpieces in mercury glass Cake and flowers go so well together!

Marina of  In True Colors Photography did an outstanding job of capturing the day in pictures. Be sure to check out the gallery below and see all the memorable photographs. In fact, there is one photograph you should look for in particular…think Titanic! The couple leaves their special day on a boat…so fun!

Fun, Colorful Wedding at Powel Crosley Estate

Hot pink and green bridal bouquetHot pink and lime green made this wedding a stand-out in more ways than one! This bride was full of personality and her color choice reflected it! This wedding was at the gorgeous Powel Crosley Estate and it was a stunner!

The bright and beautiful bride carried a colorful bouquet which included lime green cymbidium orchids, fugi mums, bulpurium and  hypericum berries, raspberry hydrangea and ranunculus and medium pink roses…it was chock full of flowers and color!

The bride also had us add a couple of charms and a pin that belonged to her late mother on the handle of the bouquet as a way of remembering her and honoring her memory. This has become a popular option when a bride has lost a loved one. We are honored to include some memorabilia or a small photo charm to help celebrate the memory of a loved one. It adds to the meaning and beauty of the day. The bride also added a single green cymbidium orchid in the side of her hair.Hot pink and green bridal bouquet with orchids and roses

Memorial rose flower for mother of the brideWe also honored the bride’s mother by laying a long stem pink rose in her mother’s chair, as a memorial to her. She had lost her life to breast cancer so the pink rose was very important to the bride.

Additionally, after the reception late that night, we returned to pick up the flowers and transported them to the Sarasota Hospice House so others could enjoy the flowers.  This is something we frequently do, especially for our destination brides.

We love to make beautiful weddings, but we often feel it is shame that the flowers cannot be enjoyed after the wedding! So we pick them up after the wedding and return them to the shop coolers and take them to Tidewell’s Sarasota Hospice House  on Monday mornings. Wonderful volunteers there take the time to distribute them and sometimes make them into smaller bouquets so they can be enjoyed by many patients and visitors.  It’s a wonderful way to use the flowers, but more importantly, it helps bring joy and beauty to someone’s day!

bridesmaid bouquet with hot pink and limeThe bridesmaids wore a lustrous bark brown. Their bouquets featured lime green hydrangea, fugi mums, button poms and small dendrobium orchids with raspberry mini carnations. They gave a super bright pop of color against their gowns!

And let’s not forget the men: their boutonnieres were small green button poms with some of the hypericum berries added…just right!

The ceremony itself was on the loggia at the Crosley—we used the natural arch columns and designed colorful arrangements that were later brought inside and used on the feasting tables.wedding dress and hot pink and lime green flowers

At the entry to the loggia, we used our black lanterns with trailing greenery….this area becomes the dance floor after the ceremony so the added candle light is a nice glowing touch!Hot pink and green centerpiece in cube

For the reception, the smaller guest tables had glass cubes with a simple natural cluster in the pink and lime green.  The bridesmaids bouquets were later used on the mantel along with candles.

The delcious food was provided by Simply Gourmet Catering! They always do an amazing job and you cannot beat Chef Larry’s menu!

All the gorgeous pictures of the day were captured by Val Ritter of VRVision Photography.  The photographs truly are a vision!  Be sure to check out all the pictures in the gallery below…you won’t be disappointed!

The Wedding of the Year!

The Wedding of the Year!

Wow…the wedding of the year?” you may be thinking as you read the title of this post. Well, to us it truly was!

And no, we’re not talking about Prince William and Kate’s wedding either! We’re talking about Sarah’s wedding. “Who’s Sarah?” you ask. Good question! It’s our owner’s daughter—that’s who!

And what a day it was! It is always exciting to work with brides and grooms and help them plan for their special day, but when it’s your own daughter, the excitement rises to a whole new level! Please allow us to share the spectacular details with you.

Once Upon a Time…

moms-w-sarah-and-bqs

Becki Creighton (the proud mom), Sarah (the beautiful bride), and Marco's gorgeous mom!

Sarah dreamed of having her wedding under the great oak at the Philippi Mansion Estate in Sarasota, FL ever since she attended her eighth grade dance there.

And the art deco vintage-inspired wedding and reception was absolutely resplendent as Becki Creighton, our owner and Sarah’s proud mom, assembled the dream team which left no detail of this magnificent event unattended!

And it was a small miracle, too, as the wedding took place 4 days AFTER Christmas!

The ceremony itself took place outdoors under the large oak tree on the gorgeous property just as Sarah had envisioned.  Affairs in the Air went into overdrive and hung 3 stunning crystals chandeliers to look as though they were hung from the huge oak tree. They had to work guide wires from outside supports as we were not allowed to do the actual suspension from the trees. They made it work and the ceremony was absolutely incredible. chandeliers-from-oak-tree

Affairs in the Air also did a fabulous design with lighting on the back patio of the mansion as well!  The red and amber up-lighting had a leaf pattern in it that stretched across the whole back of the building and it looked magnificent! We have worked with Affairs in the Air for many years and they never cease to amaze us with their ingenuity and attention to detail!

Since the couple did not want a traditional wedding or reception, they opted for a more relaxed party feel—particularly at the reception—which suited the two of them to a tee! There were no table assignments and lots of hi top tables. Each table featured a different flower arrangement! black-tree-with-pompodour-balls-and-chandeliered-votives

Decorating for the reception was a joy! The tree theme was carried inside for the reception and we used large black trees on some of the larger tables for a dramatic look. The 6’  tall black trees had euphorbia on the branches and we suspended hanging chandeliered votive candles with lots of crystals and prisms.

We also added 3 rose topiary balls in red, yellow and orange.  The topiary balls were a fun pop of color and a nice creative touch! At the base of each tree, we used 12 cylinders with floating candles wrapped in bling and set 3 additional topiary balls on top of 3 more cylinders to pull the color down on to the table.  It was gorgeous and Sarah loved it!

mantel-cake-and-art-deco-columnsThe mantel in the mansion was a composite design of several rose topiary balls in all sizes and lots of candles…in fact, thousands of roses and flowers were used for this day for both the wedding and reception. composite-w-fl-candles-in-mercury-glass

Affairs in the Air did an immense amount of draping inside the mansion rooms to create the art deco feel Sarah wanted.  They used black draping in some rooms and white in others. You’ve got to check out the before and after picture of the draping in the mansion in the gallery below…you won’t believe the difference!

They also did 4 spandex art deco columns which featured huge brightly colored floral arrangements we designed that flanked either side of the mantel and doorway. Words truly can not describe the exquisite look of it all!

And to continue the tree-theme, Debbie Bock, our shop manager designed a wishing tree instead of sign-in book and created leaves the guest wrote their wishes on. These leaves with precious messages were attached to the tree set in a cloud of roses and hydrangea. It was one-of-a-kind!

The food and cake were works of arts in themselves as well! Karl from Old Heidelberg Bakery made the striking black and white wedding cake with art deco touches and Alla from The Cake Zone created the artful desserts on beautiful trays around the cake. And Jamie Barrett from Simply Gourmet outdid himself with the Tapas style food that Sarah and Marco wanted for their special day. It was all delicious and beautiful!cake-with-desserts-and-crystals-risers

And this day will forever be preserved in our memories thanks to the beautiful pictures done by Evelyn England of Sage Art Photography  and the outstanding video by Tibor Imley. Please take a moment and look at all the gorgeous photographs of this phenomenal day in the gallery below!

Bobbi Hicks of Weddings by Bobbi helped get Sarah down the aisle and was assisted by Jen Moore from Notary to Go! They did a fantastic job and made the day go so smoothly.

bridal-bouquet-hydrangea-garden-roses-ranunculus-w-blingSarah’s amazing hair and makeup was done by Tammy and Joe Gamso from Fresh Salon and Spa. The hair and make-up went beautifully with Sarah’s classic look!

Sarah’s classic look was complemented by her classic white rose wedding bouquet which featured touches of bling! Every girl needs bling on her wedding day.

Her bridesmaids wore dazzling green vintage-inspired dresses and carried bouquets of deep red and coral roses.

We can not thank everyone enough who made this day possible…you are more than business partners to us, you are precious friends! Thank you, thank you, and thank you!

The day truly was a dream come true for us at Flowers by Fudgie! It was an absolute delight to work on this wedding and make Sarah and Marco’s wedding dreams a reality! We had a beaming bride and mother!

Charming South Florida Museum Wedding

courtyard-south-florida-museum-nighttimeEvery bride desires a magical location for the day of her dreams. This location fits the bill perfectly! It is the South Florida Museum in Bradenton, Florida, and it is such a hidden gem!

The gorgeous wedding and reception were held in the captivating courtyard. The color theme of this special wedding was soft tones of champagne, blush pink and peach!

The beautiful and glowing bride carried a stunning bridal bouquet designed with cream hydrangea, Sahara, Versailles and Sophie roses. It was so pretty and complemented her dress very well. The grooms’ boutonniere was a double small porcelina spray rose with a touch of seeded eucalyptus…it was just the right touch!pastel-rose-bouquet

lanternSince the reception was at night in the courtyard, lighting was an important part of the décor!  We used black iron lanterns on the guest tables as centerpieces with floral clusters of roses on top. Each lantern contained a LED pillar candle so as to provide light but not damage the flowers.

Some of the lanterns were also used on the wall around the fountain at the ceremony site. The ceremony itself was officiated by Rev. Georgeann Butler of Sarasota Dream Weddings…it was a lovely ceremony.

The ceremony site also had black iron stands with lovely pastel colors to match the color scheme. The iron stands were then moved to the reception site to frame the bride and grooms’ sweetheart table. The black iron especially suited the look of the old museum courtyard. Affairs in the Air did an exceptional job of providing the magical lighting overhead in the courtyard…you can never go wrong with twinkle lights!

The cake was magical as well! Fresh flowers completed the cake designed by Alla from The Cake Zone. Their motto is: “If you can dream it, we can make it!” And this cake was a dream…cream hydrangea and blush tone roses cascaded down the layers of the beautiful and delicious cake.cake-by-the-cake-zone

Destination Wedding at the Ritz Carlton Beach Club

champagne-bridal-bouquet Who doesn’t dream of a destination wedding at the Ritz Carlton? Oh my! It is such a beautiful place…it never disappoints!

The wedding was at the ever glamorous Ritz Carlton Beach Club Resort on sunny Lido Key, Florida.  The ceremony took place under a pretty chuppa which was designed specifically for the lush lawn by the sparkling Gulf of Mexico.

Generous amounts of fresh pink rose petals lined the aisle and a single open pink rose with a green orchid was tied to every other chair end.  At the back of the aisle, guests were greeted with large palm frond arrangements in bamboo vases. It was a picture to behold! pink rose petals and aisle flowers

The stunning bride carried a simple and elegant bouquet of cream roses—understated beauty! It complimented the bride’s natural gorgeousness!

centerpiees-of-green-hydrangea-pink-shades-of-roses-bouganviellaThe reception was in the impeccable Grill Room at the Ritz Member Beach Club. Centerpieces on the tables were made with hydrangea and shades of pink roses with gnarled curly willow and  pieces of bougainvillea—so eye-catching!

Romantic Rose Garden Wedding at the Ritz Carlton Sarasota

Bridal party Ritz Carlton SarasotaIt seems roses are just made for weddings! They are so romantic and when in full bloom, so fragrant.  And gorgeous roses were the perfect backdrop for a very romantic wedding at the Ritz Carlton Sarasota!

A beautiful couple chose the always immaculate Ritz Carlton Sarasota to host the day of their dreams. The stunning ceremony took place on the lawn in the Rose Garden, while the reception was held later on the lush lawn in the Healing Garden.

Photographer, Lauren Pauline, captured the pictures from this day. She did a masterful job capturing the essence of this wedding!  We have to admit though, it might be hard to take a bad picture of this couple because they were absolutely breathtaking!bridal bouquet Ritz Carlton bride

The weather did not disappoint as the couple shared their vows on a clear sunny day under a chuppa with flowing, soft draping and tender floral  clusters on the posts of Mondial garden roses.  The captivating bride carried a bouquet of hydrangea with David Austin Patients garden roses, adorned with touches of silver ivy geranium foliage. The bridesmaids carried hydrangea and the garden rose Vitality…they smelled so good!

bride bridesmaids flower girl with wreathAnd  a delightful little flower girl who was adorned with a precious rose wreath added just the right touch to this bridal party!

The bride, who chose to stay in all cream tones with just a hint of blush, wanted an elegant candle light reception under a tented canopy on the  lawn. Her wish was our command! We arranged tables with a composite look of 3 mercury glass containers filled with hydrangea and roses and spray roses with elegant phalaenopsis orchids. Each elegant table also had 3 taller pedal candle holders with additional votives to create the luminous ambiance the couple desired!candles and floral centerpiece-garden like

A fabulous statement piece was also created for the place card table on a lead crystal pedestal topped with hydrangea and roses and trailing phalaenopsis orchids.

This wedding was truly a vision and the couple was thrilled with the results! If you are looking for a florist in Sarasota , Flowers by Fudgie would be honored to work with you. We are here to serve you and make those wedding day dreams come true! Contact us today!

Dazzling Longboat Key Wedding!

Dazzling Longboat Key Club WeddingBrides love bling! And this beautiful bride was no exception. We had a blast as we prepared for this gorgeous wedding at the stellar Longboat Key Club Resort. Gorgeous color and beautiful bling made this wedding a knock-out!

The ceremony took place on the lush Harbourside Lawn under a bamboo canopy. The color scheme was pink and green (& bling!) and we used many pink roses, green hydrangea and small green orchids.

The aisle was lined with Sheppard hooks with small, yet stunning arrangements. The guests were greeted with 2 lovely pink rose and green hydrangea arrangements at the back of the aisle that were later brought inside and used on buffet tables.  It was a perfect day….lots of sunshine and not too hot! You can’t beat Florida for an outside wedding!Dazzling Longboat Key Club Wedding

A fun touch at the end of the ceremony was when the guests showered the happy couple with lush pink rose petals that had been distributed in dainty paper doily cones!

Dazzling Longboat Key Club WeddingThe reception was where the bling made it’s big appearance! We used our new and absolutely amazing 39” 5 branch bling candelabra as centerpieces with 3 smaller arrangements clustered around the base on the tables…oh my goodness! These were breathtaking and the bride absolutely loved it!

The cake was a stand-out as well. It was from Pastries by Design and featured the pink and green color scheme and was beautifully decorated with fresh roses—so lovely!Dazzling Longboat Key Club Wedding

Simple Elegant Ritz Beach Club Wedding-Sarasota

This destination bride chose the Ritz Members Beach Club for their wedding. Unfortunately,  the weather was not as cooperative as we like, so the ceremony was moved to the Sunset Terrace which still over looks the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. The bamboo arch worked nicely as a back drop with blue hydrangea and blue Bella Donna delphinium floral sprays on the upper corners.  Also blue hydrangea trimmed the aisle being attached to every other chair end.

The bride chose a simple and elegant bouquet of all Vitality garden  roses with there heavenly scent and the bridesmaids carried blue hydrangea with Vendella cream roses nested between.

The dinner tables were decorated with glass cubes of blue hydrangea and many candles were  used to add a nice glow to the evening.

Audrey Snow did an amazing job with photography…..she is a master and you won’t want to miss checking out her website where you will see many other weddings that shows her style.

Flowers by Fudgie works with many destination brides.  We have a huge portfolio of photos to help them in making their selections from  beach decor, or elegant more elaborate weddings,  as well as personal flowers for the bride and bridesmaids.   If you are interested in a quote on your wedding, ask for a consultation form and we will prepare a no cost preliminary proposal with options, pricing and photos of our work….sort of an over sized menu to get you started in your planning.

Wedding Flowers-Longboat key Club Harbourside Venue

Longboat Key Club is a favorite venue for weddings as ceremony and reception flow seamlessly when everything is at the one location. This Bradenton couple chose the club’s Harbourside location to host both their ceremony and the reception.

Flowers by Fudgie provided the bamboo canopy which was set on the lawn and decorated with soft pink roses and green orchids. The aisle was lined with Shepard hooks holding glass cones of green button mums and pink roses.  Guests were welcomed to the ceremony with lovely arrangements of green hydrangea and pink roses on slender white stanchions at the back of the aisle and carpet aisle runners complete the look.

The bride carried ivory roses with a scattering of rhinestone sprays tucked throughout the bouquet.  Her attendant wore a pink gown and carried a bouquet of soft pink roses and green dendrobium orchids.  Wedding coordinator, Bobbi Hicks of Weddings by Bobbi, was on hand seeing to every detail and keeping the evening moving along smoothly.

After the ceremony, guests moved into the ballroom to enjoy dinner and dancing.  Affairs in the Air draped the ceiling beautifully with fabric and white lights, putting a romantic ambiance in the air.  The tables were set with sparkling candelabrum decorated with pink roses.  Around the base of each candelabra we placed three arrangements of green hydrangea and pink roses.

The romance of the day was captured by the experts at Sage Art Photography.  Special thanks to them for providing the photos for our gallery.  And our friends at Pastries by Design provided Jaya and John their first sweet taste of wedding bliss with a scrumptious cake with pink roses cascading from layer to layer.
