Hilton on Longboat Key chosen for destination wedding

Flowers by Fudgie wedding flowers October is a popular month for weddings along the Suncoast. The weather is perfect and the sunsets are spectacular! So it was easy to understand why this couple from Bethesda, Maryland chose the beach and the Hilton on Longboat Key for their wedding. Beach Wedding flowers by Flowers by Fudgie bamboo-arch-for beach wedding A bamboo arch draped with ivory fabric was selected and decorated with orange Gerbera daisies and orange roses at each corner. Ivy bowls of orange Gerberas, orange roses and deep orange spray roses hung from Shepard hooks that lined the aisle.

The bride carried a hand tied bouquet of white gerbera daisies and ivory roses tucked into soft blue hydrangea. Her attendants carried orange gerbera daisies with deep orange spray roses and green hypericum berries.

The ivy bowls from the aisle served double duty as they were moved to the reception and placed on mirrors in the center of the guest tables and surrounded by votive candles. Each chair had the added touch of an orange or white gerbera daisy tucked into the tie. Wedding Centerpieces by Flowers by Fudgie

Massachusetts couple weds at Keith Edson Mansion

phillippi-arch-and-bamboo-vases The Keith Edson Mansion at Phillippi Estate Park is a beautiful setting for a wedding. The grounds make it easy to transition from ceremony to reception at one location. This couple chose a bamboo arch under the oak trees to frame them as they exchanged their vows. Large bamboo pots filled with palm fronds, river cane and purple orchids at the back of the aisle welcomed guests to the cerem0ny setting.

The bride walked the aisle carrying a hand tied bouquet of ivory David Austin Patients Roses. Her attendants,  dressed in lapis purple, carried a garden mix of green hydrangea, lavender roses, waxflower and purple lisianthus. David Austin patients-rose bridal bouquet silver-vase-with-purple-hydragnea-and-willow-w-orchids In keeping with the purple, green and aqua color scheme, tables were covered in dark purple linens with touches of aqua. Flowers by Fudgie designers on site placed tall silver vases brimming with trailing seeded eucalyptus and an abundance of purple hydrangea with curly willow rising from the center of the vase on the tables. Small green dendrobium orchid florets were attached to the curly willow to add a touch of color. The couple chose origami ornaments placed at each place setting as wedding favors. The llama, symbolizing responsibility and strength and the crane, which stands for long life, fidelity and happiness. It’s always fun to see something different and thoughtful for the favors. origami-favors

Destination Wedding At Ritz Carlton Sarasota: A Delight For The Eyes

You know you live in an amazing city when people from all over the country choose it as a destination location for their wedding day! And as Sarasota wedding venues go, none is more amazing than the always-dazzling Sarasota Ritz Carlton! A very special couple from Dallas, TX chose the gorgeous Ritz for their once-in-a-lifetime day and we had the honor of beautifying it even further with flowers specially designed for this awesome couple!

The beautiful bride chose a pretty and vibrant pink and white theme for the wedding itself, but then opted for an all white look for the reception with lots of shimmering candlelight. The bride’s bouquet was a hand-tied wonder of David Austin Patience roses. These one-of-a-kind roses feature lots and lots of petals making them resemble open peonies. Smaller ivory spray roses were interspersed throughout the bouquet.

The bridesmaids, in eye-catching pink dresses, carried gorgeous hand-tied bouquets of Pink O’Hara garden roses and fragrant Attaché roses, carefully nested into perfect white hydrangea… stunning!

The ceremony was held in the peaceful and simply beautiful Healing Garden at the Ritz Carlton Sarasota. The couple was flanked by two lovely garden arrangements in pink and white and a pink rose lined aisle.

After the ceremony, the party moved inside to the ballroom where the reception took place. We alternated between elevated and low arrangements on the tables all in white and cream tones to include hydrangea, orchids, lilies and roses for a dream-like look.  The elevated pieces included chandeliered votives hanging from curly willow branches.  The head table was a feast for the eyes! Two of the dreamy elevated arrangements topped the table with several votives candles flowing down the middle of the table to provide further illumination.

Tibor Imely of Imely Photography captured this beautiful day in pictures and provided the gallery of photos for us to display. Please be sure to browse the gallery below to see all the pictures from this wonderful day!

The couple was pleased with all the selections they made–from the small orchid boutonnieres to the flower trimmed cake to the grand candlelight ballroom–they absolutely loved every aspect of the day and will forever cherish it!  And we couldn’t be happier to have another satisfied customer on one of the most special days of their lives.

Flowers By Fudgie Not Only Designs For But Participates in Hollywood Film!

Lights…Camera….Action! Everyone has heard these words before but the designers and staff at Flowers by Fudgie were actually the ones getting ready for the action…and more… much more!

Lavish Floral Arrangements for the Movie "Parker"

Flowers by Fudgie received the awesome honor and privilege to provide flowers for a movie scene being filmed right here in sunny Sarasota! Directors of the movie, Parker– a thriller starring Jennifer Lopez and Jason Statham– shot part of the high-profile film for three days at the always spectacular Ringling Museum’s Ca’ d’Zan mansion and Flowers by Fudgie was selected to provide the upscale, lavish and opulent flower arrangements for filming.

Let’s take moment to set up the scene. Imagine a posh multi-million dollar jewelry charity auction for the very wealthy, supposedly set in Palm Beach. (The rest of the movie was actually filmed in Palm Beach!) The scene features event planners who were really thieves, scoping the place out for a heist during the auction. Their devious plan is to set a fire and have the guests flee outside while they are free to pillage and plunder the unattended jewelry. This hopefully gives you an idea of what kind of glamorous flower arrangements our designers were going to have to come up with…

Gorgeous jewels and stunning roses for the movie scene!

Initially, Flowers by Fudgie was to provide 6 to 12 small arrangements in elegant cream and white tones for outside on the terrace. However, Flowers by Fudgie later found out they were to provide the large ultra-glamorous and swanky arrangements in deeper and bolder tones for the inside the Ca’ d’Zan, where the glitzy jewelry auction was being held.

Doesn’t sound too daunting, does it? Well, maybe a little, considering this is floral design for a multi-million dollar Hollywood movie. However, let’s add the timeline to all of this. Basically, Flowers by Fudgie found out on a Tuesday all of what they needed to provide for the scene and had to deliver it and set it up in high Hollywood fashion ready for film by Thursday at 4:00 pm!

It was a glorious flower frenzy getting ready for the movie "Parker!"

Needless  to say–let the ordering  begin! Flowers by Fudgie ordered lots of roses, black magic roses and red garden roses called “Wanted”, and hydrangea and deep burgundy calla lilies, safari sunset, Bells of Ireland, bulpurium, and mini coin greenery. It was time to make some movie magic happen!

The Flowers by Fudgie staff was in overdrive! Not only did they need to prepare and design for their first ever Hollywood film, but they also had several weddings to prepare for the weekend after the filming…six weddings to be exact!

Becki Creighton, owner at Flowers by Fudgie, did not sleep well that Tuesday night after getting the final order from the set director. She was up from 2-4 am Wednesday morning, planning how to rework her design staff  to cover the filming and the weddings! Can they do this she wondered?

Let the Real Action Begin!

After finally getting to sleep, Becki was awakened that morning by a 7:15 am phone call  from the assistant set director. She related to Becki that the producer and the film director decided to move the filming up and start that day at 1:00 pm…yes one o’clock that day, Wednesday! Not Thursday as originally told, but a whole day and several hours earlier!

Can you say PANIC!! Becki wondered how she was going to get all the flowers in that she just ordered! Fortunately, Flowers by Fudgie has a good relationship with her suppliers. They graciously rerouted the enormous flowers orders and Flowers by Fudgie received them 9:15 that morning! Thanks to the fabulous staff at Flowers by Fudgie working fast and furiously, the Ca’ d’Zan was amazingly ready for filming by 1:00 pm that afternoon. The set designers were thrilled and Flowers by Fudgie staff were overjoyed. All in all , there were 26 arrangements!

Another Twist to This Fabulous Story

Becki designing for the movies!

You would think being asked to design floral arrangements for a Hollywood movie was fairy tale enough, right? Sure…but this story doesn’t end here!!!! While working on the movie, Becki, and Debbie Bock, shop manager, were asked to be in the movie!  So, Becki and Debbie, in their signature lavender “Flowers by Fudgie”  team tee shirts, got to play, of all things, floral designers, arranging a bouquet of flowers. All in all, they did 6 takes for this small scene and enjoyed every single second of it!

This ended up being a once in a lifetime experience for Becki and the designers at Flowers by Fudgie. Please enjoy the gallery below to see more pictures of this special experience. Everyone at Flowers by Fudgie loved this opportunity, but they do plan to keep their day jobs! So if you are looking for a florist in the Sarasota area to plan your dream wedding or dream event, do not hesitate to contact Flowers by Fudgie today!

Tropical colors at this Ca D’Zan Wedding Reception

composite-centerpieces-in-hot-pink-and-orange The rich, vibrant colors of a Florida sunset appealed to this Brooklyn, NY couple. Deep orange with splashes of hot pink lend themselves perfectly to the Ca D’Zan location they chose. There are several areas on the Ringling property to exchange vows and this couple  chose the Zodiac in front of the mansion. A simple aisle lined with hot pink rose petals was all that was needed with the magnificent mansion as the back drop.

Sahara and Vendella Rose Bridal Bouquet The bride carried a classic bouquet of creamy Vendella roses and soft taupe Sahara roses. Her attendants, dressed in short, light champagne colored dresses, carried bouquets of hot pink Ravel roses and orange Gerbera daisies – just the right “pop” of color against the dresses. Mothers wore corsages of white dendrobium orchids while boutonnieres were either ivory spray roses or a combination of hot pink and orange spray roses. bridesmaid-with-orange-gerbera-and-hot-pink-rose-bouquet

After the ceremony, friends and family strolled around to the terrace overlooking Sarasota Bay and enjoyed a breathtaking sunset while sipping cocktails. Guest tables on the terrace looked amazing with stately bronze candelabrum decorated with votives candles in globes and hot pink and orange roses with greenery down the stem. Candlelight was carried onto the table with 3 cylinders with hot pink rose petals and floating candles. The massive feasting table for the wedding party of 28 people was truly a show stopper. Cube arrangements of hot pink and orange roses and Gerbera daisies, various size cylinders with floating candles and larger cubes with hot pink hydrangea mounds ran the length of the 24 foot table. Flowers by Fudgie placed empty vases for the attendants bouquets to become part of the gorgeous tablescape.

First Church & Ringling Museum Courtyard Wedding

david-austin-patients-roses This happy couple from Tennessee had the best of both worlds for their destination wedding. A traditional church ceremony started the celebration at First Church. Flowers by Fudgie provided Roman columns with arrangements of green hydrangea, colorful Circus roses and belles of Ireland at the front of the church. Twenty-two aisle candelabrum wrapped with Italian ruscus lined the aisle and cast the soft glow of candlelight. roman-column-circus-roses-with-bells-of-ireland circus-roses-nested-in-green-hydrangea

The bride walked the aisle in an ivory silk strapless gown with a full silk organza skirt. She carried a stunning, elegant hand tied bouquet of cream garden roses wrapped in lace from her mother’s wedding gown. She was attended by 7 girls dressed in strapless silk shantung dresses in almond. Their bouquets consisted of green hydrangea, Circus roses and orange spray roses.

tall-cylidners-with-submerged-green-orhcids-arrangement-green-hydrangea-circus-roses The reception at the Ringling Museum Courtyard allowed guests to enjoy the warm Florida spring evening. A cylinder with tall curly willow branches surrounded by a collar of green hydrangea and Circus roses graced the table where guest signed the guest book. Tall 26″ cylinders with green cymbidium orchids inside were used on all the guest tables. Wreathes of green hydrangea, Circus roses and orange spray roses surrounded the base of the tall cylinders.

Designers at Flowers by Fudgie — your Sarasota florist — incorporated curly willow, bear grass and colorful croton leaves into the wreathes to create the couple’s vision of a loose, gardeny feel. Several smaller cylinders with green orchid florets and floating candles added the soft glow of candlelight to each table. Columns and arrangements were transferred from the church and used on the food station tables. cylinder-with-branches-green-hydrange-and-circus-roses

Catering was handled by Mattison’s, who expertly served a delicious dinner as well as a scrumptious cake created by their pastry chef. A.J. Mills Photography captured all the memories of the day with flawless photographs and Anna Pohl of Day Planners orchestrated the from start to finish.

It was truly a pleasure to help this out of town couple plan their wedding. By setting phone consultations, email and a few in shop appointments, Flowers by Fudgie was able to help eliminate the stress of planning a destination wedding.

St. Armands Lutheran Church & Sarasota Yacht Club Wedding

peonies-roses-ranunculus-hydrangea bridal bouquet Green, white and navy were the colors chosen for this Tallahassee couple’s special day. The ceremony was held at St Armands Key Lutheran Church. The bride walked down the aisle in a white strapless ball gown and carried a fragrant, garden style bouquet of white peonies, white ranunculus, white freesia, just a few white roses and mini green hydrangea. This bouquet was as fragrant as it was lovely! The attendant wore a strapless, knee length navy dress and carried green roses, green mini hydrangea with white ranunculus and white lisianthus. Boutonnieres for the men were single white freesia – the perfect compliment to the gardeny feel of the bouquets.

Table centerpieces were lavish overstuffed glass cubes with white hydrangea, green mini hydrangea and white roses surrounded by lots of votive candles on navy linens. Elegant evening in the Ritz-Carlton Healing Garden

bridal-bouquet-pink-roses-orchids This couple planned an elegant wedding using shades of cream and ivory. The ceremony took place at the First Presbyterian Church on Oak Street. The church candelabrum were beautifully decorated with hydrangea and roses. Single hydrangea tied with ivory satin ribbon adorned the ends of the pews. The bride carried a lovely hand tied bouquet of soft pink roses and Marco Polo dendrobium orchids. Eleven attendants dressed in grey-green gowns carried blush porcelana rose and white dendrobium orchids nested in ivory hydrangea. crysatal-candelabra garden-bridal-bouquet After the ceremony, guests arrived at the Ritz-Carlton Healing Garden for an evening of cocktails, dinner and dancing. Sparkling crystal candelabrum with mounds of ivory hydrangea greeted guests at the entrance to the garden. Guest tables were a mix of centerpiece styles. Some were decorated with mounded, overstuffed arrangements of hydrangea and roses while others had silver and crystal candelabrum in several styles surrounded at the base with teardrop vases of white roses. The evening was just perfect.

Beauty and elegance were evident throughout the entire day and expertly captured by Barbara Banks Photography, and each detail was overseen by Maria Brady of Choreographed Events.  Best wishes to the happy couple!
