You just cannot go wrong with candlelight for a wedding….it is so romantic to see a candle lit aisle, as was done for this wonderful couple at Saint Barbara’s Greek Orthodox Church, Sarasota. Every other pew end was adorned with white roses tucked into ivy cascading down the single candelabrum.
Maria Brady of Choreographed Events is always great to work with. She brought in special linen for the cake and head table that were just exquisite. Planning this up scaled wedding was a huge undertaking but done with easy by Maria. You will see by looking at our photo gallery that Tibor of Imley Photography, did an outstanding job capturing the event.
I do not think I have seen the Ritz Carlton Ballroom as grand with the soft lighting effect and fabric draping done by Affairs in the Air, coupled with the striking arrangements that the Fudgie designers did on site. Two styles of arrangements were used. Both in tall vases but one with long white orchids with chandeliered hanging votives and the other of tall curly willow branches with white dendrobium orchids attached and crystals garlands raining from the branches and many hanging votive candles. The branches stood 5 to 6’ tall of the tables which filled the room with it tall ceiling.
The long head table with its fabulous linen was flanked with two 36” all crystal 5 branch candelabrum topped with white orchids and then lined with dozens of candles between. The place card table in the pre function area at the Ritz had a vase of tall curly willow branches with crystals and tiny orchids on monofilament. The monofilament rained from its branches. This impressive piece was in the center of all the place cards that spiraled out from it base.
The sparkle of the crystals in the candlelight made for an absolutely awesome look.

The Powel Crosley Museum is one of the most beautiful places in Sarasota for a wedding. It a lovely historic mansion and there are so many places right on the property to be married. Couple can choose the logia as this bride did, or the gazebo or a water view on the lawn.
This featured couple used Limelight Photography for their all white wedding. The bride chose a clean look using all white roses for her bridal bouquet that was hand tied with an initial on the handle and the bridesmaids carried a garden mix of all white and cream tone flowers. The front arch on the logia was draped with fabric by Affairs in the Air and green plants from Made in the Shade added a little softness to either side of the fountain as the background for the ceremony.
Tall vases of curly willow branches with white dendrobium orchids sprays graced the tables. This was a natural look that gave some elevation on the guest tables. Also on the place card table a vase of manzanita branches with sprays of crystals tied in nicely with the guest table arrangements.

The Beach at Lido was the setting for this couple, with a reception across the street at the Holiday Inn Lido where Sonia Newton helped plan a picture perfect event.
A bamboo arch with tropical flowers and 2 lovely matching arrangements flanked the back of the aisle. These florals where transferred to the reception following the ceremony.
Evelyn England and Debra Lindsey from Sage Art and Video captured photos for the couple.

The Field Club in Sarasota is a private club on the bay and makes a beautiful setting for a wedding. This couple choose a blue and yellow theme for there garden wedding. Two large showy arrangements flanked the couple for the ceremony and the aisle was lined with yellow rose petals with clusters of yellow daises attached to the ends of the chairs.
The bride and attendants chose spring like flowers to include hydrangea, ranunculus, freesia, button poms and roses for the bouquets they carried, with the men in matching boutonnieres.
Dinner and dancing was inside the living room and dinning area where silver revere bowls brimming of garden flowers adorned each table. Audrey Snow has provided many lovely photos of the event.

It was a beautiful day for a wedding and reception in the Healing Garden at Sarasota’s Ritz Carlton. Humidity and temperature could not have been better for this affair in pink.
At the base of the stairs the bride walked through a rose covered arch. The aisle was flanked with Sweet Unique pink rose petals and at the back of the aisle the guests were met with two large arrangements of hydrangea and pink rose with trailing green amaranths.
The bride carried a bouquet of soft pink hydrangea topped with light pink ranunculus and on the handle a small photo of the bride’s grandmother who was there in spirit right in the palm of her hand. Audrey Snow Photography got a perfect photo of the bouquet along with many other excellent photos that the couple will cherish.
Dinner tables had a composite look using 3 glass cubes topped with hot pink, blue and soft pink hydrangea with a little seeded eucalyptus to trial over the sides and then floating candles that were also in glass cubes. Another beautiful party under a starry night on Sarasota Bay.

Michael’s on East’s elegant ballroom was the setting for both the wedding and the reception for this recent Sarasota wedding. Half the ballroom was set by Flowers by Fudgie for the intimate ceremony. Fudgies created an altar surrounded by bronze candelabra set against a backdrop of lush green plants. Dramatic floral arrangements composed of Wow (coral), Circus (yellow/red edge) and Leonides (terra cotta) roses with hanging green amaranthus completed this elegant space.
This was a special wedding for all of us at Fudgie’s. The bride, Jen Blanco, is a close friend and the officiant principal of Notary to Go, a long-time Sarasota wedding service provider. Jen was now on the “other side of the table” as she and Steve Moore were tied in marriage! Bobbi Hicks (Weddings by Bobbi), Evelyn England (Sage art and video , Jen Blanco-Moore (Notary to Go) and Becki Creighton (Flowers by Fudgie) have worked together as a team for years as Your Wedding Source, the one-stop-shop for Sarasota brides who expect the best for their weddings. It was loads of fun planning and executing a wedding for one of our ”sisters”! But this time the team included Susan Quarmby, of Weddings by Susan, as the officiant. Together, we made our dear friend’s wedding day as special as any we have ever done.
Phil Mancini, owner of Michael’s on East joined the team as Maitre d’ along with Brett Osborn of Made in the Shade, who provided the rental of the green plants. Three other great vendors for the evening were Tammy Gamso of Finishing Touches, who did the bride’s makeup, Carl from Ole Heidelberg Bakery who provided a scrumptious cake and Wayne Delair of Delair Entertainment, who provided fabulous music for the evening.
The reception was in the same ballroom where Fudgie’s designers created elevated arrangements of Leonides, Circus and Wow roses, trailing ivy with several votive candles at the base of each one for a rich, romantic setting. This fun, loving couple continued partying on with all their family and friends all weekend. Pre-wedding fun started Friday night at Marina Jacks and ended Sunday at the Hyatt Sarasota with a grand brunch. See the photos below to get in on this great wedding weekend!

The Ritz Carlton – Sarasota is a beautiful setting for a wedding and their outdoor setting was perfect on this sunny Saturday. The bride had envisioned an aisle lined with flowers, so Fudgie’s designed flower arrangements to frame the couple as well as to line the aisle. The arrangements were made with mixed pastel shades of pink and yellow with trailing green amaranthus and ribbons set on top of 36 inch-tall bronze stanchions.
The buffet reception in the ballroom had guest tables in varying sizes. The larger tables had a set of three arrangements for a composite look while the smaller tables had single glass cubes. They all had smaller flower arrangements to pull the mixed pastel colors inside. Tall 26-inch glass cubes supported the large buffet centerpieces that added color to the scrumptious feast presented on serpentine tables.

This couple from New York chose the white sands of Sarasota Ritz Beach for their destination wedding. It was a perfect October day for the Fudgie’s team to design a chuppah made of curly willow, grapevine and decorated with hot pink roses, Italian ruscus and bougainvillea. The bride liked the natural look of vines, so it was carried into every aspect of the ceremony and the reception. Small tips of curly willow were added to all the men’s boutonnieres and the hand-tied clusters that the mothers carried.
Black lanterns lined the back of the carpeted aisle and were decorated with fresh roses and tips of curly willow. A small grapevine wreath was decorated with Ravel hot pink roses and bougainvillea and was attached to each chair lining the aisle to carry the theme through the seating area.
The cocktail hour was held on the Ritz’s beautiful Sunset Terrace at the beach. Then, the 60 guests were transported to one of the ballrooms at the Ritz hotel downtown. There, the elegant room was back-lit with hot pink up-lighting on the walls. Affairs in the Air handled the placement of the gels that gave the room a soft wash of pink and Brett from Made in the Shade placed several ficus trees and ferns around the perimeter of the room. Each guest table held two tall cylinders at 26″ and 20”. Each one contained curly willow with hot pink roses and spray roses and a swag of bougainvillea tucked into the branches. The base of the tall cylinders were flanked with two glass cubes with curly willow nested inside and mounded with more roses. A dozen small cube-like votive candles completed the centerpieces and added to the ambiance of the room.
The bride’s bouquet of hot pink roses, ranunculus, nerine lilies and miniature green hydrangea became the centerpiece for the couple’s sweetheart table, along with four additional small cube arrangements of roses and votives. The place-card table had a beach theme with the cards nested into trays of small shells and flanked with many candles, shells and cymbidium orchids.
We were delighted to hear from the bridal couple on the day after the wedding! They told us their special day was everything they dreamed of and that the flowers and decorations were a big hit with all of their guests. The Flowers by Fudgie team does it again!

For those that did not attend the fabulous fund raiser, the Ungala, for the Ringling Museum of Art; Fudgie’s wanted you to see what a great look they had for this years party, partly due to the fun elevated arrangements that graced each table. Linens were in hot pink, orange, yellow and lime green and each table was topped with a 26” cylinder filled with crystals and LED lights and then topped with a topiary arrangement of fugi mums in the same bold colors. The photos posted on this blog, which were taken late in the day but before sunset, do not due them justice as the tall cylinders had a soft glow provided by the LED lights as the event moved into the evening. Each of the 4 top tables had a small glass cube with a mound of the bold colored fugi’s to mimic the tall elevated pieces. Michael’s on East provided a fabulous spread at various buffet stations. Phil Mancini was there to personally oversee the set up of the event. Mattison’s catering handled the bars and were prepared to keep the crowd happy. Also Fuzion Dance/Higher Ground Performing Arts, Jay Goodley Entertainment, Plant Parents and The Plant Place also provided generous in-kind sponsorship!
The Ringling is fortunate to have many wonderful sponsors and supporters making this a huge successful fundraiser for the Museum here in Sarasota.

Ringling Museum hosted the International Arts Fest this October and Flowers by Fudgie was delighted to add to the fabulous display that Chef Roland from Treviso’s at Ringling prepared for the first night celebration. Five huge ice sculptures were banked with tall arrangements including tropical foliage with bamboo, Bombay orchids and bear grass. The bases of the ice sculptures overflowed with scrumptious seafood. They were accented by bold colored gerbera daisies and arrangements incorporating fresh oranges. Bold fabrics and table skirting in orange, hot pink and yellow completed the exciting set for this great event. Also, forty hi-top tables featured small glass cubes, each one holding a simple mound of gerbera daisies. It was a great kick off to a wonderful week of celebration of the arts for the Ringling Museum and Fudgies made it beautiful!
